Handcrafted and Barrel-Aged Spirit Distilled from WheyWheyward Wheyskey is a first of its kind handcrafted and barrel-aged specialty spirit distilled from domestically sourced whey. All of our flavor is created naturally during the fermentation of whey, the cuts we carefully make during distillation, and the process we take to let that flavor fully blossom and mature through oak aging.

HOW WE STARTED
Our founder and CEO, Emily Darchuk, forged her career as a food scientist in the natural food and dairy industry. While working with dairies she observed firsthand the problem of whey waste impacting small communities. What she saw made her motivated enough to do something about it.
As a scientist Emily knew she could convert whey into alcohol. However, as a consumer who cares about flavor and the impact of her purchases, she wanted to make something unique for others, who like her, care about the origin of their food.
The opportunity to give a voice to those who care and influence the dairy and spirit industries to work together towards sustainability gave her the inspiration to launch Wheyward Spirit. Emily perfected the signature spirit through years of trials, carefully crafting the recipe while she mastered the distillation process hands on and continues to drive our innovation today.
Our mascot is a real cow! She (yes, she!) is a "Highland Coo". Her name is Magnificent, she roams free and she has stories to tell.
She’s far from the average cow and her windblown look embodies the Wheyward Way.

We take the perfectly balanced flavors of the award-winning Wheyward Spirit and make it even better by barrel aging to create a complex yet approachable aged specialty spirit. Notes of oaky vanilla, toffee, and warm spice naturally develop during our sustainable farm-to-cask-to-flask process to create a sippable and velvety smooth barrel-aged spirit.

We’re all about elevating classic cocktails to a new level, and our New Era is no exception. A bespoke and more sustainable twist on an Old Fashioned, the New Era boasts notes of orange, cherry, and spice with an earthy, oaky finish that’s perfect for sipping.
2 oz Wheyskey
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp water
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Place sugar, bitters, and water into a mixing glass. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add ice and Wheyskey, and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled rocks glass with a large ice cube. Express orange oil over the glass and garnish with the peel.
