SND’s Vermont Maple Cream Liqueur is an indulgent blend of flavors. We start with our extraordinary rum aged 3 years in charred white oak barrels and finished off in SND bourbon barrels for another year to infuse complex whiskey overtones. We then marry this with 100% pure, local organic Vermont maple syrup and fresh cream. Light whiskey notes greet you as you sip, and a satiny, complex confluence of creamy vanilla, maple, and toffee lingers mid-palate. It finishes with the mellow sweetness of rum.

The alchemy of a father/son dream. That’s the magic that created Smugglers’ Notch Distillery®, founded by father and son Ron and Jeremy Elliott. In 2006, Ron, a retired business executive, and Jeremy, a research chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, teamed up to follow their collective passion to establish a distillery in the Vermont mountainside.
The backstory is that in 2006, Jeremy’s pharmaceutical firm wanted to send him overseas, however Jeremy had other ideas. He wanted to stay in Vermont where he had lived since graduating from the University of Vermont. In searching for ways to stay in VT, he took some leave-of-absence time from the pharmaceutical position to learn out west about distilling and develop a formula for creating a smooth and flavorful vodka, a tricky task. His professed goal: to make the world’s best vodka! While family applauded his ambition, and Jeremy was hard at work on his formula, Jeremy began his quest for investors in his idea. Though these offers were forthcoming, that’s when father and son decided to keep the company solely a family partnership and set to work on developing a brand, an operational plan and site, and applying for all of the federal and state permitting required.
