Avila: A Brief History
A few generations ago, several families of mezcaleros from Oaxaca and tequileros from Jalisco migrated to the small state of Morelos in search of new land to grow agave.
Rather than contend on which spirit to make in this new region, these families instead decided to combine their skills and distill a product that used techniques from both spirits.
The result was something unique and undeniably special.
An agave spirit, exclusive to Morelos, that was eventually to be dubbed “Avila”.
In the decades since, these ‘avileros’ have been distilling Avilas with one simple mission -
to create the best agave spirit on the planet.
WOOD
Notes of oak and barrel char are initially pronounced.
DRIED FRUITS & NUTS
Toasted coconut and almond are released, with subtle notes of weak coffee.
SPICES
A beautifully complex mix of cardamom and black pepper melds with black tea and a hint of vanilla.
FINISH
A bold, earthy finish is reminiscent of a fine cognac and holds a rich, open aftertaste.
