Batch 28 is the fifth iteration of the award-winning The Kelvin Collaboration, the company’s annual signature release. It is released each year shortly before the Kentucky Derby in early May. The company is always sure to put their best foot forward with this release. The Kelvin Collaboration V is a blend of three Kentucky Straight Bourbons. A 7-year bourbon with a mash bill of 74% corn, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley, an 8-year of the same mash bill, and a 9-year with a mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% Malted Barley. The whiskey was then finished in Australian Mariposa Sherry and Añejo Dark Rum casks. The resulting batch yielded 4,802 bottles at 117 proof and the SRP is $199

The Name
Four Gate is a slang term for the four-rail fence common throughout central Kentucky, most notably on thoroughbred horse farms.
Usually painted white or black, the Four Gate fence is an iconic image of the Bluegrass Region in which our brand is based and can be found throughout our labeling and marketing assets.

Nose
The nose opens with rich, inviting aromas of dried fruits, particularly dark cherries and raisins, paired with a subtle hint of oak spice. The influence of the Australian Mariposa Sherry casks brings out sweet, honeyed notes of toffee and a slight touch of dried orange peel, layered with whispers of vanilla and a slight rum sweetness.
Palate
On the palate, the bourbon reveals a complexity that balances the richness of its age and finishing casks. Bold flavors of caramelized brown sugar, dark chocolate, and baked apple meld seamlessly with a gentle warmth from the 117 proof. A nuanced mix of baking spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, introduces a layer of depth, while the Añejo rum casks contribute a tropical flair of roasted pineapple and a touch of molasses.
Finish
The finish is long and warm, with lingering notes of oak, toasted almonds, and a hint of leather. The dark rum influence leaves a subtle sweetness, and the sherry cask adds a final whisper of dried fruits and a slight herbal bitterness that rounds out the experience.
