Our Día de los Muertos 2022 single-release batch was hand-crafted using artisanal mezcal-making methods from October 25 to November 23, 2022.

The 2022 Dia de los Muertos batch of Chulele® Mezcal was lovingly crafted by Maestro Mezcalero Tomás Mendéz Hernandéz, his family and the many amazing people in Santiago Matatlân.
2022 Chulele® Espadin Mezcal Dia de los Muertos
This batch of Chulele® artisanal mezcal was expertly and traditionally produced during the 2022 Día de los Muertos festival. The harvest began on the morning of October 25th in the fields owned by Benito Ruiz and his son Francisco (16°54'13.2"N, 96°25'03.4"W). The harvest consisted of approximately 150 plants to produce 1,000 liters for this batch.
During its production, daytime temperatures ranged from a high of 84F on the day of harvest to a nighttime low of 46F on the day the oven was opened, and the perfectly cooked agave allowed to rest. Cooler nights (temperatures ranging from 46F to 57F) resulted in the fermentation process taking 7 days – a little longer than usual. The days and nights were dry, with no precipitation.
