Triplum® is a classic "triple sec" that Luxardo distills, with rigorous fidelity to the original production specifications, right from the first half of the nineteenth century. The denomination "triple sec" indicated, in tradition 19th century liqueur, a liqueur obtained from the distillation of the peels dried fruits of three types of citrus: mainly curaçao (bitter orange of the Dutch Antilles, especially of the homonymous island of Curaçao), but also sweet orange and mandarin. Triplum® Luxardo is obtained from distillation of the three types of citrus fruit listed above, with separation of the "heads" and of the "tails": only the "heart", that is the central part of the distillation, comes started the so-called "rectification" (in practice, a second distillation). However, additional components, such as flowers, also enter the Luxardo recipe dried orange blossoms (blossom) and others, in obviously secret proportions, which give this "double distillate" an extraordinary refinement of the aromatic content. The distillate is filtered, diluted and sweetened. It deals with of one of the few sweet liqueurs obtained by distillation.
