In Idaho folklore, Sharlie is the name given to a sea serpent much like the Loch Ness Monster, that is believed by some to live in the deep alpine waters of Payette Lake near McCall, Idaho.
Founded in 2018, Ogopogo Brewing is San Gabriel’s first craft brewery. Brewer-Owners Jason De La Torre and Ryan Edell are veterans of the Southern California brewing industry (Mason Aleworks, Saint Archer, Golden Road), and have a fondness for folklore, mythology, and palindromes. The beers are named for legendary creatures and figures from around the world, with the style of beer and/or ingredients used often linked through the country of origin. In their first year of operations, they were awarded a silver medal in the Belgian Witbier category at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival for Boeman Belgian White Ale and received the same medal again in 2020
