Our Gin begins by infusing botanicals into Mischief Vodka. We don’t use NGS (neutral grain spirits) purchased from the big producers as a base. Our Gin, just like all our spirits & whiskeys, begins with grain grown in the rare earth of the Skagit and Willamette Valleys, west of the Cascade Mountain range. Mischief Gin is balanced, with as much floral coriander as juniper; followed by layers of citrus, floral peppers and sweet spice. Just as when we make Mischief Vodka, we let our Gin “rest” before bottling.
At Fremont Mischief, all our whiskeys are exclusively Rye because in our growing area – the Skagit Valley, WA & Willamette Valley, OR, – rye grain can be grown sustainably. Corn, the major grain in bourbon whiskey…cannot. Chemicals are required to grow corn here. Mischief has been distilling Rye Whiskey for nearly a decade, and by now, rightfully consider ourselves “rye experts”.
We make all our Mischief Rye Whiskeys traditionally, with techniques used by few in the distilling industry. All our Rye Whiskeys are “High-Rye” – 80% to 85% Rye grain and 15% to 20% Malted Barley. We take the extra time, attention and investment required to create Mischief’s “High-Rye Whiskey”. For us – the beautiful complex flavor and rich mouth-feel is well worth it!
As we approach our 10thanniversary, Fremont Mischief offers four award-winning High-Rye Whiskeys, all barrel-aged from 4 to 7 years. Try one, try them all…we’re sure you’ll like the results. FAMOUS COCKTAIL - THE SOUTHSIDE COCKTAIL
A Mischief summer favorite. Refreshing, we hope it becomes your favorite too: The Southside Cocktail. Similar to a mojito, crafted with our botanical-forward flagship Mischief Gin rather than rum. Its absolute perfection on hot sunny afternoons, gathering with friends and family, or just a great accompaniment for doing yard work or gardening (we have fully tested this of course). It’s light, refreshing, and delicious; we know you’ll love it! And chances are, if you’ve come through our courtyard for Solstice or Octoberfest, you might’ve already tried this cocktail!
1 sprig of mint (making sure the mint you use is nice and fragrant will make all the difference in this cocktail), 1 oz. fresh lime juice, 1 oz. simple syrup, 2 oz. Fremont Mischief Gin, 1-2 oz. Soda Water
In a shaker gently muddle mint, lime juice, and simple syrup (this won’t take much, you don’t want to over muddle mint). Fill shaker with ice and add gin. Shake well and strain into Collins glass filled with ice. Then top with soda water! It’s as simple as that!
FAMOUS COCKTAIL - LEMON MAPLE MARTINI
This is an easy to make cocktail that is warm as a sunny day and smooth as a rose petal. Its simple ingredients make it easy to make for a big group or just to make for yourself as a pre-dinner aperitif. The maple syrup blends surprisingly well with Fremont Mischief’s gin, a bit of fresh lemon, and the pinch of salt is the magic ingredient that blends it all together.
3 oz Fremont Mischief Gin, 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice (about 1/2 a lemon), 3/4 oz pure Maple Syrup, very small pinch of kosher salt
Put all in a shaker with a generous amount of ice, shake well, strain into Martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel.
